I am (or am not) observing No Music Day because: In an age where Itunes and google searches can find any piece of music within seconds, I shall reflect on why I fell in love with music in the first place. I shall try to remember the excitement of finding rare records in dusty shops and shall contemplate whether I really need to click on "buy now" ever again
I will (or will not) be observing No Music Day by: Definately not going any where near the Vahall arena in Oslo.
Alistair Graham

I am (or am not) observing No Music Day because: It's not music any more. It white noise. It's product. It's a core demographic. It's a target audience.
I will (or will not) be observing No Music Day by: Avoiding the regurgitating of Coldplay / Snow Patrol songs that these so called music directors for piss poor / lazy TV channels decide is the very epitome of emotional outpooring. Informing people of musicians that actually had something to say when you could believe in it. Because they believed in it.

I am (or am not) observing No Music Day because: Last year I tried and failed 1 hour and a half into the day without even realizing it. Music has been my life's pulse for the past 5 years straight. Not a day has gone by that I haven't listened to music. I want to see how strong I can be and how I will react to 24 hours straight of no music. And as someone else said, the next day I will hear music though completely different ears.
I will (or will not) be observing No Music Day by: abstaining from any form of music whatsoever. I will not wake up to the raido I will not walk to school with my ipod, I will not watch movies, I will not walk home with my ipod, I will not sing in the shower, I will not turn on The Beatles to go to sleep.

I am (or am not) observing No Music Day because: It is my 15'th birthday. I think being on the earth for 15 years, maybe 5 or 6 of them kind of knowing what was going on, demands a little recollection. I also believe that music itself deserves it's yearly moment of silence, where as a moment may be not enough to show appreciation for all the greats of music who have come and gone, the greats who have yet to come, and the greats who have been drowned out by the armies of truly inferior music. May the quality of mainstream music today stand as a reminder that high quality comes with high standards,in addition and agreement to that said by Amman Sabet.
I will (or will not) be observing No Music Day by: Not listening to music, at all, as well as spending as much time as possible thinking about how far I've come and what I can still do.

I am (or am not) observing No Music Day because: Technically I am not observing no music day. I think your idea is dumb but you live in a country where dumb ideas are encouraged and even celebrated so go ahead and have your no music day. There are so many other, more important issues you could be spending your time and energy on. Just keep in mind, your grandchildren will know you are contributing to the race to the bottom...
I will (or will not) be observing No Music Day by: Listening to music, perhaps Pink Floyd (the champagne of rock 'n roll, don't you know?)
John Adams

I am (or am not) observing No Music Day because: Music is in danger of becoming just a part of the daily noise.
I will (or will not) be observing No Music Day by: At the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (www.hkw.de) we will have a festival of electronic music in November 2007 called WORLDTRONICS. We will ask all participants of WORLDTRONICS to contribute non-musical ring tones for mobile phones for a website that will exist for only a short time up to Nov 21st, so people could exchange their musical ring tones for something non-musical.
Detlef Diederichsen

I am (or am not) observing No Music Day because: Who came up with this idea, John Cage?
I will (or will not) be observing No Music Day by: Is there even such a thing as "no music?" All sound, and even silence, can be interpreted as music in some form or another.

I will (or will not) be observing No Music Day by: Okay, first of all, i'm not going to observe NO MUSIC DAY by anytime at all because i dont agree with it. THE WHOLE IDEA SUCKS. whoever decided it can go suck it because music is what helps people get by the bad times, the good times, and the so-so times. I don't care about your stupid fucked up believes/opinions because no one will listen to this stupid day because everyone on the face of the earth loves music too much to give it up. It's liberating, fun, and expressive and anyone who wants to make a day opposing those things is fucking retarted.

I am (or am not) observing No Music Day because: come the next day i will hear any music through the ears of somebody who has gone too long without music of any sort. i love music so much, but a shitload of people take it too much for granted. by not listening to music i am hopefully going to be set with a true appreciation of music for a long long time. if it doesnt work whats the worst thats happened, im a bit grumpy for an afternoon?!
I will (or will not) be observing No Music Day by: not listening to music, but in no fucking way ignoring it!

I am (or am not) observing No Music Day because: music is beginning to be a little numb to me and with it being my career path and love of my life, I can't let that happen. Maybe with the absence of music I can learnt to appreciate it more, not take it for granted and hopefully be more inspired to write better songs...
I will (or will not) be observing No Music Day by: not listening to any kind of music for a day but thinking it instead...

I am (or am not) observing No Music Day because: Regrettably I didn't hear about this until the 30th. Nevertheless, I think it's a great idea and your point about iTunes playlists and music 'being on tap' is something that's been on my mind for a couple of years now. Music collections, not 'iPods' themselves, in the form of iTunes playlists, have become the status symbols in my opinion , and it's become a game to see who can collect the biggest, most self-consciously 'eclectic' series of songs. This process not only robs music of its genuine charm, but, ironically, homogenizes it as well, until every song gets so worn out and indisinguishable that the idea of this very music once actually moving you or challenging you becomes pure folly. Thank you for putting this out there - it needed to be done!
I will (or will not) be observing No Music Day by: Trying it next year (2007)

I am (or am not) observing No Music Day because: Music today is an ouroboros of audio vomit bent on eating itself seeking nourishment from style, when there is no content or artistic merit to stand and build upon, only the childish ego trip of young dirtbags with bad haircuts getting their percieved 15 minutes of fame. Ever wonder why today everyone is a one-hit wonder? Everyone marches to the percussion of back-patting.
I will (or will not) be observing No Music Day by: Only listioning to music by people who have died before the invention of the internet.
Amman Sabet

I am (or am not) observing No Music Day because: No music day is pointless and stupid.
Perhaps you should consider bowling instead?
